SRINAGAR, Nov 16: The Border Security Forces (BSF) today said that they will give befitting reply to the ceasefire violations but maintained that it is up to Pakistan to maintain peace on the borders.
IG BSF, Kashmir Frontier, P S Sandhu said here that the troops are fully alert to foil infiltration attempts from across the Line  of Control (LoC).
“We will reciprocate in the same way the Pakistan behaves. We will be the happiest people if they want to have peace on the LoC but if they attempt to violate the ceasefire, they will be given a befitting reply which we have been doing,” said IG BSF.
The BSF officer said that the militants are desperate to sneak into Kashmir and they are continuously attempting to infiltrate.  “Infiltration attempts are continuing and militants are waiting for an opportunity to sneak in”, he added.
Sandhu said that despite cold and snow the militant camps near the LoC are packed with the militants. “Every camp on the LoC is packed. Despite snow and severe cold, they have not withdrawn and are still there, looking for an opportunity to sneak in,” he said.
The IG BSF said that BSF is alert to foil militant designs. “It is their attempts versus our alertness and I am sure we will not give them any chance. This is an issue which is very very serious. “We will do whatever is required to be done,” he said.
Earlier while speaking at a colourful attestation cum passing out parade held at its training centre in Humhama near Srinagar airport, the IG BSF lauded the role of officers and training staff of the centre in shaping the cadets to shoulder the responsibility placed on them and rise to the expectations of the nation.
A BSF spokesman said that the 535 trainees included 526 from Jammu and Kashmir, three from Haryana, two each from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and one each from Punjab and Jharkhand were inducted as constables into the force after nine months of basic training at the function.
The spokesman said that the cadets did regular training, training in counter-insurgency, anti-terrorism, commando operations, field engineering, field craft and minor tactics.
The BSF spokesman said that the subsidiary training centre was established in 1990 and so far it has trained 13450 recruits, 928 Comn personnel and 3557 Group “C” staff, which include 1913 Kashmiri youth including surrendered militants, who are now performing their duty in various parts of the country.
