BSF shoots down drone near Amritsar

NEW DELHI, Mar 9:
BSF on Wednesday shot down a drone about a kilometer inside the border near village Havelian near Amritsar, Punjab.
Troops deployed in the area heard buzzing sound of a flying object during wee hours, the object was fired upon and later a quadcopter was recovered during search near the said village, officials said.
Two days back, a similar drone intrusion was attempted from Pakistani side in Ferozpur sector.
The BSF shot down that quadcopter as well. The troops later recovered approximately 4.17 kgs of contraband attached with the drone.
At about 0255 hrs, forward deployed troops heard humming sound of suspicious flying object coming from Pakistan side to the India side in Ferozpur sector, the BSF said.
Immediately all were alerted and troops fired at the flying object and also illuminated the area by firing Para bombs.
Later, an attached green colored bag was recovered containing 4 packets in yellow wrapping and 1 small packet in black colour wrapping. Gross weight of the contraband items was approximately 4.17 kgs, the BSF said. (UNI)
