BSF seize 6 kg heroin after exchange of fire with Pak smugglers

JALANDHAR, Oct 12:  The Border Security Force (BSF) has seized six kg of heroin worth Rs 30 crore from a Border outpost Udhar Dhariwal, Ex- 50Bn BSF, Sector Amritsar after an exchance of fire with Pakistani smugglers, a senior BSF officer said here today.
Dy Inspector General and senior public relations officer R S Katria in an official statement said during midnight last night Pak smugglers were spotted while inserting a pipe in the fence in  Border Out Post Udhar Dhariwal, Ex-50BN.
They were warned to stop but paid no heed  and continued with their aggressive posture. To stop their misadventure further and in self-defence, BSF troops opened fire on smugglers. However, the smugglers managed to escape taking cover of darkness and undulating ground,” the release said.
During search of the area, 3 packets (weighing 2 kg each, approx. 6 kg)of contraband suspected to be heroin was recovered on home side of Border Security Fence in the area, it said. Meanwhile, the BSF has issued operational guidelines to all the sectors for further strengthening its activity along the border.
So far this year, BSF have seized a total 218 kg of heroin on the Punjab border,  foreign currency of the face value of Rs. 5,32,000, 35 Kg Poppy Husk , nine weapons , eight Magazines, 110 rounds of ammunition ,  13 Pak Mobiles, 21 Pak SIM cards, 6 Indian Mobiles,  10 Indian SIM Cards, one BD Mobile and one BD SIM Card, he informed.
Also, three Pakistani intruders and three Pakistani smugglers have been interdicted, 16 Pakistanis were apprehended while crossing the border, one Indian smuggler was interdicted, five Indian smugglers were apprehended 5, the release added. (UNI)
