JAMMU, Apr 30: The Border Security Force (BSF) today gunned down a Pakistani intruder when he entered inside the Indian territory at Border Pillar No. 189 near Border Out Post of Chillayari in Samba sector and recovered some items from his possession.
Official sources said the BSF jawans observed movement of a Pakistani infiltrator at 8.50 am at Chillayari post of Samba sector and asked him to surrender. As the intruder came about 20 meters inside the Indian territory and didn’t stop despite the warning, the BSF jawans of 9th battalion opened firing killing him on spot.
The BSF jawans recovered dead body of the intruder. During frisking they found three Pakistani identity cards from his possession, which revealed his identity as Amanat Ali, 32, son of Rashid Ahmad, a resident of Sarya Rambri in Shakargarh area of Narowal district. The identity card showed that he was working in Sublime Soccer Private Limited at Daska Road, Sialkot as stitcher.
Other recoveries made from his possession included one identity card of his wife with the name of Assia Parveen, one Nokia mobile handset with SIM and memory card, four Pakistani currency notes worth Rs 25 in the denomination of Rs 5 (three) and Rs 10 (one) apart from a coin., one slip containing contact numbers and addresses, school admission form, 23 stitching needles, one pocket diary and two packets of cigarettes.
Later, the BSF jawans handed over dead body of the infiltrator to police, which got post-mortem conducted at the District Hospital, Samba and later kept the body in mortuary of the hospital.
The BSF was expected to hold flag meeting with the Rangers tomorrow for handing over the body to them subject to confirmation of identity by the Pakistanis.
Ghagwal police in Samba district under whose jurisdiction the intruder was killed has registered FIR No. 29/2015 under Section 14 Foreigners Act and Section 3(3) EIIPA.
The BSF has been maintaining high alert all along the International Border from Kathua to Akhnoor following inputs that a large number of militants were trying to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir. Only last month, the militants had struck at Rajbagh police station in Kathua district and Mehsar Army camp in Samba district killing three security personnel and two civilians. All four militants were later eliminated by Army, CRPF and police.
There had been reports with security agencies that the militants were trying to repeat Samba and Kathua like attacks after infiltration. The BSF has been guarding the borders to thwart infiltration attempts by the militants. The surveillance has been stepped up all along the IB.
“It was in view of sustained surveillance by the BSF that security forces immediately spotted movement of the intruder and gunned him down as soon as he stepped into the Indian territory,” sources said.
