JAMMU, June 27: The Border Security Force (BSF) early today foiled an infiltration attempt and gunned down an intruder along the International Border (IB) in RS Pura sector of this district.

The intruder was asked to surrender but he kept on running towards the Indian territory prompting security personnel to open firing leading to his killing.
Nothing significant was, however, recovered from his possession.
“Pakistani Rangers and militants have developed new modus operandi of pushing infiltrators into the Indian territory. They generally send an intruder ahead of the infiltrating group. If he is trapped, the group is held back,” sources said.
In this case also, the infiltrators didn’t turn up after finding the intruder killed.
Pakistani Rangers and militants have been desperate to intrude into the Indian territory especially ahead of annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath Ji shrine but have been finding it difficult due to high alertness being displayed by the Border Security Forces.
The drones sent from across the border by the Rangers and the militants have been shot down by the BSF and local police with the help of local people.
Arms, ammunition and explosives sent through the drones were seized by the security personnel at Hiranagar and Kanachak sectors recently.
In view of drone threats during upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji pilgrimage, security forces have been maintaining very high alert along the International Border.
