Broken printer delays issuance of licenses in Sopore

Srinagar Mar 3: The license seekers of Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district are facing delays in the issuance of their licenses due to non-functional printer at the regional transport office.
The aspirants told Excelsior that the office is taking them for a ride by not issuing their licenses on time. “The office is delaying my license despite completing all the formalities. My license was ready for dispatch, but I am not receiving it for some unknown reasons,” a license seeker said, adding that the undue delay is forcing him to visit the office every now and then.
The aspirants lamented that they are facing problems in the office due to insufficient staff. “A number of people visit the office every day and the staff is insufficient to cater to their needs. More people should be employed there,” locals said.
While admitting the delay in issuing the licenses, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Mubashir Ahmad told Excelsior that the printer of the office had broken down and that delayed the process. “We took the matter with the government and the printer has also been fixed. The aspirants will not face any problems now as printing has resumed,” he said.
Asked about the deficiency of staff, he said there was no dearth of staff in the office as the maximum of the work is done online. “We have enough staff here. The e-governance has helped us in speedy redressal of cases,” he said.
