Reviewing preparations for Eid, the DC said the administration recently held a detailed meeting with all line departments, including electricity, water supply, roads, sanitation, food safety and revenue departments, to ensure smooth arrangements across Srinagar.
He said the administration is making advance preparations so that citizens do not face any inconvenience before or after Eid celebrations. The DC also extended advance Eid greetings to the people of Srinagar and said the administration wants people to celebrate the festival peacefully and comfortably.
Meanwhile, the DC said District Administration Srinagar has launched a special Youth Engagement and Empowerment Programme for the next 12 months.
He said the programme started in April with the aim of providing “positive energy” to students in schools and colleges and giving those platforms to showcase their talent and choose fields according to their passion.
According to the DC, the year-long programme will include debating competitions, painting competitions, inter-college cricket tournaments for both boys and girls, entrepreneurship summits, cultural festivals, science and technology fests, football competitions, badminton tournaments and plantation drives.
The DC said the initiative is aimed at engaging youth in constructive activities and encouraging participation in sports, education, culture and entrepreneurship across the district and to keep them away from drugs.
