JAMMU, Apr 28: A delegation of Jammu Kashmir Brick Kiln Manufacturers Association (BKMA) called on Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and apprised her of the problems being faced by the brick kiln owners while implementing the Brick Kiln Regulations Act 2010 and enforcement of Minor Mineral Concessions rules.
The Association appealed the Chief Minister for providing breathing period of five years before the Act and rules could be enforced.
The deputation informed the CM that brick kiln owners are providing direct and indirect employment to lakhs of skilled and semi skilled workers. Apart from providing the breathing period of five years the Association requested for considering the lowering of royalty rates of brick clay which should not be increased more than 20 percent.
