Brahman Sabha for reviewing decision on delimitation

JAMMU, July 17: Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha (DBPS), today urged the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister to review the so called resolution passed by previous regimes, stalling of the process for delimitation of Assembly constituencies in J&K State. The Sabha further demanded constituting Delimitation Commission headed by a retired Judge of the Supreme Court for demarcation of the Assembly segments considering the population and geographical areas. The announcement in this regard be made in the current session of Parliament so that the confusion and uncertainty among the nationalist forces of Jammu and Ladakh regions could come to an end, it added.
Sabha leadership also said that this wrongly stalling of delimitation has not only discriminated the political class but has also evoked a sense of insecurity among the people of Jammu and Ladakh regions. “Considering the population, area, voter strength constituency-wise; Jammu and Ladakh regions were discriminated by delimitation resolution,” Ved Parkash Sharma, president DBPS said while addressing meeting of the Sabha here.
“First step in this direction will be revoking 2002 Constitutional Amendment in the State which put a halt on delimitation upto 2026, which was the main cause of worry for Jammu and Ladakh people,” he said.
Describing Narendra Modi as a great Chanakya of world politics, he said high hopes have been created in the minds of Jammu and Ladakh people who are optimistic that discrimination with their regions will be broken and sorted out very shortly by the NDA Government at the Centre.
Advocate P.C. Sharma who was also present on the occasion disclosed that with the presidential proclamation in 2018 issued by the President of India all legislative power of the State Legislature are presently vested with Parliament legally, that will ensure creating Delimitation Commission which can give its report in time bound manner to be accepted by President to act upon it to undo historical blunders done by the previous regimes.
Sabha vice-president Virendar Mohan Magotra, Satyanand Sharma, Subash Shastri, Chander Mohan Sharma convener Jammu Tawi Andolan, Jagan Nath Sharma, Nanak Chand Sharma, Mohan Lal Sharma, Ramesh Sharma, Shiv Ram Sharma, K.L. Sharma, Gurdas Sharma, Jia Lal Sharma, S.S. Bharu, Prem Balotra, Som Nath, Satpal Sharma, Raman Sharma, Satpal Khajuria and others also attended the meeting.
