JAMMU, Nov 27: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL)— a Maharatna and India’s second largest Oil Marketing Company believes firmly in the Government’s Fit India campaign and accordingly took initiative in felicitating the real heroes of this campaign at its office in Bahu Plaza, here today.
On November 22 this year, a unique virtual event on all India level was organised by Indian Flag Runners in which participants were enrolled for 100 kilometer running or cycling with tricolour in an attempt to create a world record. Ultra runners of Jammu Rajesh Padha and Abhishek Gupta were among few, who completed 100 kilometers of running in less than 15 hours holding Tricolour in hands.
While the felicitation function was primarily organised to compliment these ultra runners, but two female runners of Jammu Kanupriya Garh and Manminder Kaur, who are also pioneers in the running and have created records in this field were also felicitated. Former has the title of being the first female ultra runner of Jammu and latter recently completed over 2700 kilometers of running in 100 days in a virtual running event of 2020.
Naresh Sharma, working as DySP with J&K Police was also honoured on the occasion for implementing an innovative idea of running in which the runners do the running activities with him on the heritage places of Jammu, thus creating an awareness in promoting the culture and heritage of Jammu.
During a felicitation ceremony, Ultra runner Rajesh Padha shared his experience on how the running practices started by him in 2011 were brought to the level of doing over 100 events and achieving various milestones, which have been appreciated by the Government and the civil society. Similar experience of their running journey were shared by Kanupriya Garg, Mamninder Kaur and Abhishek Gupta among the participants, which were from the running community of Jammu and the staff of BPCL.
Rajesh Sharma, Territory Manager (Retail) for J&K and Ladakh, who himself is the marathoner cum cyclists appreciated the guests and started that he himself was able to change his lifestyle by adopting running from 2017 and was able to influence many others around him with the help of this running comunity of Jammu.
While presenting mementoes to the guests, he conveyed to the family of over 150 dealerships and staff of BPCL in J&K to adopt such lifestyles that they can contribute to the betterment of their personal life and also step forward towards a better tomorrow.
