Boy killed in grenade blast

JAMMU, May 18: A teen-aged boy was killed while his sister had a narrow escape in a grenade blast at village Kither in Bunjwah area of Kishtwar district this afternoon.
Reports said Mohammad Yusuf, 15, son of Noor Mohammad, a resident of village Bakerwal Khairi in Kither area had gone for grazing cattle along with his sister when he fiddled with a grenade lying in the fields, leading to a powerful explosion.
Yusuf was killed on spot. About eight to 10 cattle were also killed. However, his sister survived as she had gone ahead while grazing the cattle.
Security forces and police rushed to the spot and shifted the victim to hospital, where he was declared as dead. His body was handed over to the family after post-mortem.
Security forces and police conducted searches in the area but no movement of the militants was observed in the area. The searches continued, reports said.
