JAMMU, Nov 5: A minor girl and young boy committed suicide at Basantpur in Kathua and Mendhar in Poonch in two separate incidents today.
A police spokesman said that 17 year-old Sunita Devi, daughter of Babu Ram, resident of Basantpur, who was student of Class 12th consumed some poisonous substance at her residence late last evening. She was rushed to Kathua hospital where doctors after washing her stomach referred her to GMC Jammu. She died in GMC hospital early today. The police registered a case and started investigation.
Meanwhile, 22-year-old Zulfiqar Ali, son of Gulzar Ali, resident of Salani in Mendhar became serious after he took some poisonous stuff after a verbal clash with his relatives. The boy was rushed to Mendhar hospital where doctors referred him to GMC Jammu in view of deteriorating condition. He died on the way near BG. The body was brought back to Mendhar and then handed over to the family after completion of legal formalities. The police was investigating.
