REASI, Aug 25: A boy drowned in Chenab river as the water level suddenly rose when the victim was enjoying swimming with the help of a tyre tube, here today at Panasa.
The deceased was identified as Deep Kumar (15), son of Chuni Lal of Panasa. He was enjoying swimming in the river when additional water was released in Chenab by the Dulhasti Power Project authorities. Even as prior warning was issued in connection with release of water, the victim did not take care of the same and thus the mishap took place, police said.
The incident took place around 5 p.m and till last reports came in, body of the victim was not traced.
Meanwhile, a pedestrian was hit by a bus near Matyal Petrol Pump on Panthal road. The victim, identified as Parshotam, son of Bansi Lal of Ponywala, sustained serious injuries in the mishap and was referred to GMC Hospital Jammu. Police has arrested driver of the bus, who was identified as Parmanand of Chadai Udhampur.
