Boy dies due to overdose of painkillers; youth found dead in pond

UDHAMPUR, May 22: A teenaged boy died due to overdose of painkillers at village Jig Sudhmahadev while a Jammu youth was found dead in a pond near Mansar- Surinsar road.
Police reports said that Pawan Kumar (19), son of Om Prakash, took some painkillers after he felt severe stomach pain at his home, last evening. As he didn’t get relief from pain, he consumed more pills following which his condition started deteriorating.  The family members rushed him to District Hospital Udhampur where he died during treatment, early this morning.
As the possibility of suicide was not ruled out, Police has registered a case in this regard for further investigation.
Meanwhile, a Jammu youth was found dead in a pond near Mansar- Surinsar road under mysterious circumstances, here today.
The deceased has been identified as 26 year old Vikram Kumar, son of Raj Kumar of Ambedkar Nagar Ploura in Jammu. Some locals spotted the body and immediately called the Police, which rushed to the spot.
Later the dead body was shifted at PHC Majalta for the postmortem and other legal formalities.  Police has registered the case under Section 174 RPC for further investigation.
