JAMMU, June 12: Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 64 cattle and arresting four smugglers.
As per police sources, on specific information, a joint team police team led by SHO Inspector Mohammad Shoket and assisted by Incharge Police Post Sidhra Ayub Khan laid nakas and intercepted four trucks JK02AT-2737, JK02AE-7811, JK02BP-6685 and JK03E-3305.
During checking, police team rescued 41 bovine animals from the trucks and arrested two smugglers, who were identified as Zahid Khan, son of Abdul Gani of Batote and Arif Ahmed, son of Farooq Ahmed of Kokernag. Two drivers fled away by taking benefit of darkness.
Cases under FIR Numbers 233/2020, 234/2020, 235/2020 and 236/2020 under sections 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act and 119 and 177 MV Act has been registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation started.
The arrests were made under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Lal Sharma and SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil.
Meanwhile, a team from Udhampur Police Station led by Inspector Vijay Choudhary laid a naka at Jakhani and intercepted 2 vehicles bearing registration numbers JK02CC-1728 and JK18A-4995.
During search of vehicles, 23 bovine animals were rescued and two smugglers identified as Sultan Ali, son of Murad Ali of Jammu and Abid Hussain, son of Mohammad Ramzan of Anantnag were arrested on the spot.
Cases under relevant section of law have been registered at Police Station Udhampur and investigation initiated.
