Bovines smuggling bids foiled; 61 cattle rescued, 7 arrested

JAMMU, May 27: Nagrota police foiled bovine smuggling bids by rescuing 61 cattle and arrested seven persons.
As per police sources, a team from Nagrota Police Station led by SHO Inspector Mohammad Shoket under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Lal Sharma intercepted seven trucks bearing registration number JK20-0413, JK02AB-4337, JK02AN-6591, JK20B-0510, JK19-8082, JK02AL-9296 and JK02BE-3036 at Ban Toll Plaza.
During checking, police team rescued 61 cattle from the vehicles and arrested seven persons.
The arrested persons have been identified as Ishtayaq Ahmed, son of Mohammad Farooq of District Reasi, Mohammad Ashraf, son of Mohammad Nazir of District Reasi, Barkat Ali, son of late Javed Ahmed of Kokernag District Anantnag, at present Ragoora District Jammu, Nazir Ahmed, son of Murid Ali of Gadigarh District Jammu, Rajinder Kumar, son of Darshan Kumar of Tehsil RS Pura District Jammu, Mohammad Razaq, son of Mohammad Iqbal of District Reasi and Mohammad Sahil, son of Liaqat Ali of Talwara District Reasi.
Cases under FIR Numbers 201/2020, 204/2020, 205/2020, 206/2020, 207/2020, 208/2020 and 209/2020 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Nagrota Police Station and investigation started.
