Bovines smuggling bids foiled; 50 cattle rescued, 8 arrested

JAMMU, Nov 5: Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 50 cattle and arresting 8 smugglers.
As per police sources, a team from Gharota Police Station during checking intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AR-9839.
During checking, police team rescued 12 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested two persons, who were identified as Balwinder Singh, son of Gurmeet Singh and Jagmeet Singh, son of Sewa Singh, both residents of Nanak Nagar District Jammu.
Meanwhile, during checking near Ban Toll Plaza and Sidhra bridge, police rescued 7 bovine animals from two vehicles bearing registration number JK20A-1142 and JK02BW-1969 and arrested three smugglers.
The arrested persons were identified as Muzamil Ahmed, son of Abdul Aziz and Anzar Ali, son of Bashir Ahmed, both residents of District Anantnag and Mohammad Shakeel, son of Malooq Hussain, a resident of Katayal tehsil RS Pura District Jammu.
However, a joint team from Police Station Rehambal and Police Post Tikri laid checking points and intercepted two vehicles bearing registration numbers JK19-5073 and JK19-3730. During search of vehicles, police team rescued 14 bovine animals and arrested one person, who was identified as Arshad Ahmed, son of Mohammad Ramzan of Naugam Banihal District Ramban.
In another case, a team from Police Station Udhampur intercepted a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK14D-1314 for checking at Jakhani.
During checking, police team rescued 4 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested one person, who was identified as Liaquat Ali, son of Noor Mohammad of Roun Domail, district Udhampur.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Lakhanpur during checking intercepted a truck bearing registration number UP11BT-1547.
During frisking, police team rescued 13 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who was identified as Asif, son of Yaqoob, a resident of Uttar Pradesh.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Gharota, Nagrota, Rehambal, Udhampur and Lakhanpur Police Stations and investigation started.
