JAMMU, Jan 20: Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 40 cattle and arresting six smugglers.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Police Station Nagrota laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing Registration Number JK02BP-6685.
During checking, police team rescued 13 bovine animals from the truck and arrested two persons.
The arrested persons were identified as Abdul Majeed, son of Abdul Ghani and Fareed Ali, son of Shah Mohammad, residents of Dwara Majeen district Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 21/2021under relevant sections has been registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation initiated.
Police team led by SHO Nagrota Inspector Mohammad Shoket made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Parupkar Singh and SP Rural Jammu Sanjay Sharma.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Kanachak laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing Registration Numbers JK02AG-7873.
During checking, police team rescued 12 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested two persons, who were identified as Sarfrazm, son of Abdul Rehman of Talli Morh district Reasi and Mohammad Khalil, son of Mehboob of Rakh Bhara, district Anantnag.
A case under FIR Number 12/2021 under Sections 188/34 IPC and 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Kanachack.
Police team led by SHO Kanachack Inspector Vishav Partap Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Domana Kosheen Koul and SP Rural Sanjay Sharma.
However, a team from Police Post Belicharana led by SI Ranjit Singh laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JKO2AA-0815.
During checking, police team rescued 11 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested the driver along with his associate.
The arrested persons were identified as Liyakat Khatana, son of Mohammad Shafi of Kangan, District Ganderbal and Zahid Ahmad, son of Imran Ahmad of Khanpur Nagrota District Jammu.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Satwari and investigation started.
In another similar case, a team from Police Post Talwara while patrolling in Jerri area rescued 4 bovine animals, while the accused managed to escape.
A case under relevant sections has been registered at Police Station Reasi and hunt has been launched to nab the cattle smugglers.
