Bovines smuggling bids foiled, 39 cattle rescued, 5 arrested

KATHUA, June 27: Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 39 cattle and arresting 5 smugglers.
As per police sources, a team from Police Station Lakhanpur led by Inspector Sanjeev Chib stopped a truck bearing registration number NL02N-9682.
On checking, 12 bovine animals were rescued from the vehicle and two persons were arrested, who were identified as Deepak Singh, son of Gurmej Singh and Prabjot Singh, son of Harbans Singh, both residents of Amritsar.
However, a team from Lakhanpur Police Station during checking rescued 12 bovine animals from a truck bearing registration number PB07Q-9292 and arrested a person, who was identified as Kulwant Singh, son of Mohinder Singh of Jalandhar.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Rajbagh led by Inspector Bhopinder Singh during patrolling intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB02BN-9885.
During checking, police team rescued 15 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested two persons, who were identified as Rafiq, son of Dina of Chandigarh and Bagh Hussain, son of Nami of Hariachak.
Cases under relevant sections have been registered at Police Stations Lakhanpur and Rajbagh and investigation started.
