SAMBA/KATHUA, June 22: Ghagwal and Lakhanpur police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 24 cattle, while the alleged smugglers managed to escape.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Ghagwal Police Station led by SI Bansi Lal under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Samba Deepak Digra and SSP Samba Anil Magotra laid a naka at Tapyal and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AW-8573.
During checking, police rescued 10 cattle from the vehicle and seized it, while the accused driver managed to escape from the spot.
A case under FIR Number 94/18 under Sections 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act, 119/117/184 MV Act has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal and hunt has been launched to nab the accused driver.
Meanwhile, a team from Lakhanpur Police Station led by Inspector Sushil Sharma rescued 14 cattle and seized the truck, while the accused smugglers managed to escape.
A case under FIR Number 58/18 under Sections 188 ROC and 3/5 PCA Act has been registered at Lakhanpur Police Station and investigation started.
