UDHAMPUR, Apr 17: Majalta police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 17 cattle and arresting seven smugglers.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Majalta Police Station laid a naka and intercepted five persons carrying flock of bovine animals.
During questioning, the persons carrying the flock of bovine animals failed to give satisfactory reply and police team arrested them.
The arrested persons have been identified as Mohammad Showkat, son of Abdul Hamid, Arif Hussain, son of Mohammad Khalil, Sadam Hussain, son of Hakim Din, Mohammad Rafiq, son of Mohammad Sadiq and Farooq Ahmed, son of Saida, all residents of District Samba. Police team rescued 14 bovine animals from the possession of these cattle smugglers.
Meanwhile, a team from Majalta Police Station during checking intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK02BH-5770.
During checking, police rescued three bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested two persons, who have been identified as Rishu, son of Som Lal of Kathua and Ved Parkash, son of Sadhu Ram of Ramnagar.
Cases under relevant sections have been registered at Majalta Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Majalta Inspector Bharat Sharma made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Ramnagar Jagdev Singh Slathia, Additional SP Udhampur Rajinder Singh Katoch and SSP Udhampur Rajiv Jasrotia.
