Bovines smuggling bids foiled; 114 cattle rescued, 6 arrested

JAMMU, Apr 24: Nagrota, Jhajjar Kotli and Ghagwal Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 114 cattle and arresting 6 persons.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Nagrota Police Station led by SHO Inspector Deepak Pathania laid a naka and intercepted 7 vehicles.
During checking, police team rescued 98 bovine animals from the vehicles and nabbed three persons, who have been identified as Mohammad Sharief, son of Mohammad Mussa of Zero Morh, District Reasi, Mohammad Sadiq, son of Abdul Hamid of Khankasa, District Reasi and Mohammad Shafi, son of Ibrahim of Zero Morh, District Reasi.
In another similar incident, a team from Jhajjar Kotli Police Station led by SHO Inspector Shoket Hussain rescued 12 bovine animals from a truck and arrested two persons.
The arrested persons have been identified as Mudassir Ahmed, son of Manzoor Ahmed of Verinag District Anantnag and Mohammad Shafiq, son of Mohammad Azeem of Ashwan District Anantnag.
Meanwhile, acting on reliable information, a team from Police Station Ghagwal laid a naka near Tapyal and intercepted a Mahindra vehicle bearing registration number JK02W-8597.
During frisking, police team rescued 4 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested one person, who has been identified as Ajay Kumar, son of Prem Chand of Jindlehar Tehsil RS Pura, District Jammu.
Cases under relevant sections have been registered at Nagrota, Jhajjar Kotli and Ghagwal Police Stations and investigation started.
