JAMMU, Apr 25: Sidhra, Udhampur, Roun Domail and Rehambal police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 110 cattle and arresting 9 smugglers.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Sidhra Police Post led by SI Parvaiz Ahmed Khanday laid a naka and intercepted three trucks bearing registration numbers JK02CA-3987, UP11AT-0997 and JK02X-0951.
During checking, police team rescued 49 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested two persons, who have been identified as Gagandeep Singh, son of Karpal Singh of Gadigarh Jammu and Mohammad Inam, son of Mohammad Sageer of Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, a team from Udhampur Police Station led by SHO Inspector Vijay Singh Choudhary laid a naka and intercepted two trucks bearing bearing registration numbers JK19-4655 and JK02AQ- 7781.
During frisking, police team rescued 41 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested three persons, who were identified as Mohammad Raqeeb, son of Sayeed Ali of Anantnag, Javed Ahmed, son of Shamasdin of Ramban and Ashiq Ali, son of Mussa of Krimchi Udhampur.
In another similar incident, a team from Roun Domail Police Post led by SI Jaswinder Singh rescued three bovine animals and arrested three persons, who were carrying the cattle by foot.
The accused have been identified as Manzoor Ahmed of District Udhampur, Sanjay Sharma, son of Khem Raj of Tehsil Chenani District Udhampur and Mohammad Rashid of Narsoo District Udhampur.
However, a team from Police Station Rehambal led by SHO Inspector Ajay Bhat laid a naka at Flata and intercepted a person carrying flock of bovine animals.
During questioning, the person failed to give satisfactory reply and police arrested him
The arrested person has been identified as Mohammad Khalid, son of Mohammad Iqbal, a resident of Nandini, District Jammu. Police team rescued 17 bovine animals from the clutches of the smuggler.
Cases under relevant sections have been registered at Nagrota, Udhampur and Rehambal Police Stations and investigation started.
