Police at Nagrota , Jammu recently foiled an act of cattle smuggling and caused freedom to as many as 27 heads of cattle. The obvious reason for their smuggling is not very difficult to know but the problem is how these smugglers despite strict police vigil manage at times to give slip to them and they succeed in their illegal act.The police could have got some clue or the chain of such smugglers and more about their net work but all the culprits are reported to have fled away from the scene. Anyway, the vehicle in which they were carrying the cattle was abandoned by them which could help the police in great deal in investigating the matter.
The net work and the mods operandi of these cattle smugglers has got to be unearthed and strict action taken against them . In the meantime, the police vigil needs to be upped especially during night hours, during heavy down pour and in the early wee hours as these are considered safe occasions to carry the cattle out from Jammu periphery. Also police need to lay nakas at more points, even internal sub roads and lanes .
