SAMBA, Oct 6: District Police Samba foiled an attempt to smuggle bovines by rescuing 21 bovines and arresting the bovine smuggler in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal today.
Acting on reliable information, regarding smuggling of bovines towards Valley a police party of PS Ghagwal laid a strong vehicle checking naka at NHW Tapyal in Ghagwal area of Samba district and intercepted a truck bearing Registration Number UP21CN-6248 which was coming from Punjab and moving towards Valley.
During checking of the vehicle, 21 bovines were found laden inside it without any permission. The accused driver identified as Zahid, S/o Rashid Ali R/o Tanda Rampur, Uttar Pardesh has been arrested on spot.
All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting bovines was also seized on spot.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 112/2020 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation taken up.
