Botany Deptt of KU gets 2nd phase of SAP worth Rs 1.2 cr

SRINAGAR, Apr 28: After successful completion of the first phase of Special Assistance Program (SAP) from UGC, the Department of Botany, University of Kashmir has achieved yet another milestone of getting the second phase (SAP DRS-II) with a financial package of around Rs 1.2 crores and additional provision for two project fellows.
According to Head Deptt of Botany, KU, Prof Irshad A Nawchoo, the second phase mandates the Department with objective of achieving the excellence in the area of Biodiversity conservation especially MAPs, mycorrhizae and mushroom diversity. The successful completion of the second phase of SAP will potentially make the Department eligible for the centre of advanced studies in Botany, he added.
