SAMBA, May 16: The residents of border villages of Ghagwal today protested against the Railway authorities and blocked railway track for half an hour at Ghagwal in district Samba today.
According to the information, this morning at around 10:30 am, a large number of male and female residents of border villages of sector Ghagwal assembled near Railway track Ghagwal and started raising slogans against the Railway authorities and then blocked Railway track for half an hour and tried to stop the trains. They alleged that Railway authorities blocked railway track near Railway Station Ghagwal on May 15 without giving any intimation for public which connects Ghagwal to Lalachack.
Although the alternate route is some 100 meters away from this track, but locals are demanding to reopen this fatak as well. They said that new way is totally in bad condition and also is narrow road, due to which the people of Lalaychak, Malani and other areas are facing lot of trouble after closing the Railway track. They are demanding construction of fly over on this fatak so the people cannot face any problem.
After receipt the information ADC Samba reached the spot and tried to pacify the protester. He assured them that the problem will be resolved as soon as possible. He also asked the protestors to send some people to his office tomorrow for discussing the matter.
Subsequently, the two passenger trains up and down which were halted since 11am were resumed at around 1:25 hours.
