Border people still living in hellish conditions: Mankotia

Excelsior Correspondent
HIRANAGAR, Sept 26: Asking State and Central Government to fulfill promises made with border people, ex-MLA and NPP president Balwant Singh Mankotia today alleged that both Governments have ditched these border inhabitants who are still living in hellish conditions.
He was addressing series of rallies at Ghagwal, Sherpur, Pathbal, Babian, Chagga Morh and Dayalachak during Haq-insaaf Yatra for separate Jammu State.
Mr Mankotia said it was unfortunate that no Government considered the problems of border people seriously who have been facing the Pak shelling since long. “Migration of border people has become routine affair, which affects schooling of their children, damage their standing crops and livestock because of firing and heavy shelling,” he said.
NPP president said the Government had promised to construct bunkers and provide 5 marla plot for them at safer places, which was still a dream. “With continuous false promises of leaders, border people are now fed up with the assurance of State and Central Government, which are not serious towards the miseries of border people because border firing affects areas falling in Jammu region and leaders have nothing to do with them,” regretted Mankotia.
He stressed that the time has come to unite for separate Jammu State and support the genuine cause of Panther Party, which is the viable solution to end discrimination.
On this occasion, senior leader Rajender Manjoo, Satish Sharma, Jagdish Kumar, Advocate Sohan Singh, Mohinder Singh and Arun Sharma also addressed the gatherings.
