JAMMU, Mar 6: A combined meeting of Dogra Sadar Sabha Committees of Tehsil Bishnah and Arnia was held at Arnia under the president ship of Waryam Chand, where in the border people highlighted their sufferings.
A large number of representatives from both the tehsils including the border area, Sarpanches, Panches, Numberdars, Chowkidars and other prominent persons participated. Gulchain Singh Charak, former Minister and president of Dogra Sadar Sabha (J&K), was the chief guest on the occasion.
Various speakers expressing their views in the meeting highlighted numerous burning issues of their areas like non-availability of water for irrigation due to the huge amount of silt accumulated in the main canal and its distributaries especially D 9, D14, D15 and D16, and non-supply of ration under different schemes (BPL, APL, etc).
They also demanded that special recruitment drive be carried out for the youth of the area to save them from the frustration. “Though Government has made certain arrangements for imparting the physical training to the aspiring youth for joining the Military, Paramilitary and Police forces but still they need some relaxation in written test as their education system has totally affected due to the time and again firing from across the border”, they added.
Speaking on the occasion, Charak urged upon the Government to take immediate necessary steps for the redressal of the problems raised by the people and fullfill all the promises made to them time and again by the State and Central Government, otherwise they will be left with no other alternative except to come on the roads.
Showing his serious concern on the clashes held between different communities especially at Kharah Madana, Sarore and Rajbagh (Kathua) recently and ineffectiveness of the authorities to deal the situation, Charak said that the culprits whosoever are involved in anti-social and anti-national activities be punished under law.
Charak also appealed Governer NN Vohra and his advisors to meet the delegation of the area as requested by all the members.
