SAMBA, Sept 21: In continuation to its drive against the menace of illicit trade of liquor, district police Samba arrested a bootlegger and recovered 42 bottles of illicit liquor in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Vijaypur.
A police party of PS Vijaypur while performing routine patrolling duty in Vijaypur area, intercepted a motor cycle bearing Registered Number JK21F-0199 near Shiv Nagar, Vijaypur which was coming from Ramgarh side and moving towards Vijaypur.
During checking of the said motorcyclist, a total of 42 bottles of JK Special Desi Whisky, 180 ml each were recovered. The accused person identified as Ranjeet Singh, S/o Teja Singh of Pakhri, Ramgarh has been arrested on spot and contraband item was also seized.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 160/2020 U/S 48 (a) Excise Act registered at P/S Vijaypur and investigation started.
