UDHAMPUR, Oct 24: Udhampur Police today arrested a bootlegger near Mini Bus Stand area and seized 38 pouches of illicit liquor from his possession.
The accused, identified as Darshan Lal son of Sikander of Ghari in Udhampur was intercepted by a Police party from Udhampur Police Station when he was travelling on foot near Mini Bus Stand Udhampur. During thorough search of a bag, being carried by him, Police recovered 38 pouches of J&K Desi whisky.
Police arrested the accused and seized the recovered liquor. A case in this connection has been registered under section 48(A) Excise Act at Police Station Udhampur.
Meanwhile, Udhampur Police also arrested eight gamblers in Battal Balian area and seized Rs 9,560 as bet money from their possession. A case under Gambling Act has been registered in this regard.
