JAMMU, Nov 18: Department of Urdu, University of Jammu today organized a book release function in which the book titled “Qudrut-ullah-Shahab Shaksyat aur Fun” written by Prof Shohab Inayat Malik, HOD Urdu and Director Kishtwar Campus was released.
The book was released by Prof Amitabh Mattoo, Advisor to Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir State in presence of AR Veeri, Minister for Haj and Auqaf and Prof RD Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Haj and Auqaf AR Veeri exhorted upon the teachers to contribute towards education and to provide quality education as it is the launching pad. Referring to education as a movement, Minister said that education is a mission which helps in changing the destiny of the people.
Veeri called upon the teachers to concentrate on writing apart from their other routine works as the literature only will help our future generations to peep into past. He further added that teachers play major role in shaping the character and career of the students through education.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Amitabh Mattoo assured the Vice Chancellor of all the necessary support from the State Government for the overall development of the main campus and also for the offsite campuses.
Prof Mattoo said that the offsite campuses have the social and economic impact and they need to be nourished and their development in terms of infrastructure is very important.
In his presidential address, Prof RD Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu said that writing a book is a great contribution of any academician as books are the main source of knowledge and they provide a deep insight of the subject.
Javiad Mugal presented a detailed paper on the book and in the absence of Prof Qudose Javeed, his paper was read by Dr Farhat Shamim, Asstt Professor of the Department.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr Mohammad Reyaz Ahmed, Associate Prof of the department while vote of thanks was presented by Prof Sukhchain Singh.
The function was attended by Deans, Directors, HoDs, faculty members, University officials, people from the civil society and large number of scholars and students.
