JAMMU, Aug 1: Bone & Joint Week celebrations commenced today at Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences (ASCOMS) & Hospital, Sidhra with a Yoga & Meditation session held for the faculty members, staff members and students.
The Yoga & Meditation session was inaugurated by D K Batra, Secretary, ASCOMS, who was the chief guest on the occasion. During the session, live demonstration of Yoga was given to participants. They were also apprised about the importance of meditation in day to day life.
Dr Ravinder K Gupta, Prof & Head Paediatrics Department, performed the Yoga. He demonstrated various Asanas and described the scientific rationale behind every Asana. Dr K S Mehta, Acting Director Principal appreciated the efforts of Dr Rajesh Kumar Gupta, Prof & Head Orthopaedics Department ASCOMS and president J&K Orthopaedic Association for taking such an initiative and associating ASCOMS with this national event.
Dr Rajesh, while delivering the vote of thanks, expressed his gratitude to all the faculty members, students and staff for their active participation in the event. He also expressed his gratitude to all staff members of his department who were actively involved in organizing the event.
After the Yoga session, a Walkathon was also held from the College Auditorium to National Highway and back to make the general public aware about the Bone & Joint Health.
All the events were held under the Banner of Indian Orthopaedic Association.
