The event showcased the exceptional talent of local artist Aziz Ur Rehman, who astounded visitors with his remarkable ability to transform discarded animal bones into exquisite works of art.
The exhibition drew a diverse crowd of art enthusiasts, who eagerly explored the intricately crafted items on display.
Excitement filled the air as visitors marvelled at the artistry behind the bone creations and gained a deeper appreciation for the transformation of what was once considered waste into stunning pieces of beautification and jewellery.
During a press interaction, Aziz Ur Rehman, a native of Srinagar currently pursuing his master’s degree in Fisheries at SKUAST-K, shared insights into his craft.
With a passion for repurposing waste materials, Aziz explained his process of creating bone earrings, pendants, candles, jewellery stands, flower vases, and even decorative paper machie works on skulls.
“I gather discarded bones and repurpose them into various articles. Bones are transformed into captivating earrings, pendants, and ornate flower vases. As for skulls, I utilize the paper machie work to turn them into striking decorative items,” Aziz enthusiastically explained.
While Aziz was already involved in bone craft, the COVID-19 pandemic provided him with an unforeseen opportunity to dedicate more time to his art. The period of lockdown allowed him to hone his skills, resulting in remarkable growth.
“I’ve learned numerous techniques during this time and have been able to establish a fully-fledged gallery of these bone creations,” Aziz proudly shared.
Aziz emphasized that the key attraction of his work lies in his ability to utilize discarded bones and breathe new life into them as works of art.
He ensures the preservation of the bones through maceration, collaborating with local artists experienced in paper machie work to add a touch of elegance and finesse to his creations. People present on the occasion said that the Exhibition stands as a testament to the ingenuity and artistic brilliance of Aziz Ur Rehman.
