RAMBAN, Dec 8: Police here today fished out the dead body of a woman from the banks of river Chenab in Khowbagh area.
Police sources informed that the body was spotted by some locals on the bank of river Chenab in Khowbagh and they informed Police which after receiving the information rushed to the spot with QRT and fished out the dead body.
The deceased was identified as Mehzooba Begum, 36, wife of Mushtaq Ahmed Wani, resident of Kundi, Karool, Ramban who had allegedly committed suicide on November 21 by jumping into river Chenab in Karool area.
SHO Police Station Ramban, Inspector Nayeem Ahmed Matoo said after conducting medico legal formalities body of the deceased was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites.
