JAMMU, Feb 22: Police on Wednesday claimed that they have recovered the body of a 24-year-old youth from Tawi River.
SHO Nowabad Police Station, Inspector Vijay Kumar told Excelsior that from preliminary investigation, it appears that Rinku Kumar, a vegetable seller, accidentally fell into the river on February 17 near Jewel Chowk area.
Soon after receiving the information, he said, joint teams of police and SDRF started a rescue operation.
“Today, a team of NDRF also joined the rescue operation. Owing to the collective efforts of the police, SDRF and NDRF, the body of the youth was finally fished out of the river after hectic efforts,” said the police officer, adding that it was later handed over to the legal heirs of the deceased after completing the medico-legal formalities.
“Further investigations are on,” he said.
