JAMMU, July 22: The body of a youth, who had drowned yesterday in a canal in Belicharana area of city outskirts, was recovered today.
“Sonu Kumar (22) son of Jagdish Raj, resident of Anandpur (Miran Sahib) had drowned in a canal at Canal Head in Belicharana area last evening and his body could not be recovered despite hectic search”, a police official said.
He said today morning when search operation was continued further, the body of the youth was recovered from the canal at some distance from the point of drowning. “After postmortem the body of the deceased has been handed over to his legal heirs for last rites while the concerned police have taken cognizance of the matter”, he added.
