BMS submits memorandum to PM

JAMMU, Mar 12: The State unit of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) has submitted a memorandum of demands to Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh through Deputy Commissioner, Jammu.
A deputation of BMS led by State president, Karnail Chand and working president, Vijay Chandel met Deputy Commissioner, Jammu and submitted a memorandum containing charter of its demands including control over price hike in petrol, diesel, LPG cylinder, creation of jobs to control unemployment, stopping FDI in Telecom, Financial Sector and Retail business and social security for all unorganized workers.
The memorandum also included demands like old age pension for disabled and self employed workers, a minimum pension of Rs 3000 per month under EPF schemes, formation of Social Security Board in every State, implementation of 7th Central Pay Commission, amendment in MG-NREGA Act, treating Anganwari workers and helpers as Government employees and putting a halt on converting ICDS schemes into mission.
The BMS threatened the Government of starting an agitation throughout the country if its demands regarding low paid employees and workers of unorganised sectors were not accepted.
Bushan Sharma, general secretary, BMS besides Harbans Choudhary and Ashok Choudhary secretaries of BMS were part of the deputation.
