BMS deputation meets Dy Labour Commissioner

JAMMU, Mar 13: A deputation of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) led by Harbans Choudhary, senior BMS leader here today met Deputy Labour Commissioner and brought to her notice the issue of workers engaged through contractors.
The deputation said such workers work in skilled category but are paid wages of unskilled workers.
“No wage slips and no employment cards are provided to such workers but illegal deductions are made from their wages,” deputation members said adding: “Now the principal employers have adopted new method of employment as they hire workers from open market and pay them by the evening depriving ESI and PF benefits and regular workers are being laid off intentionally while there is no check from PF and ESI officials”.
The deputation also said that Security Agencies employ guards whom wages are not paid accordingly and 12 hour duty has become a common practice with no overtime.
The deputation demanded that renewal of principal employer and labour supplier contractors’ licenses should be stopped till they fulfil all required formalities.
The Deputy Labour Commissioner assured the deputation to look into the issue.
Ashok Choudhary, BMS General Secretary, Sachin Bali and others were also present in the deputation.
