JAMMU, July 18: Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) here today started a weeklong awareness campaign on Dengue and presented a musical concert in this regard in collaboration with Sangam Tru Art Production to aware the masses about dengue and malaria and their treatments.
The programme was inaugurated by chief guest, V.K Magotra, former Regional Director of Directorate of Field Publicity.
Dr. Tara Singh Charak, former Chief Medical Officer and J.K Raina, Freelance Producer Director presided over the function.
Awareness items specially prepared on the themes like ‘Chara Da Bukhar’, ‘Roko Roko Malaria Gi Roko’ etc along with skits, songs and dances were presented to aware the masses.
The chief guest lauded the efforts of the organizers in making such awareness programmes.
A handout stated that during the campaign BLSKS will present seven shows in Udhumpur, Tikri, Raipur Satwari, Kot Balwal, Akhnoor and Pargwal blocks to aware the masses.
Earlier welcoming the audience M.L Dogra, Chairman BLSKS said that dengue fever is a mosquito-borne tropical disease caused by the dengue virus.
“Symptoms may include high fever, headache, vomiting, muscle and joint pains and a characteristic skin rash,” he further said, adding that a number of tests are available to diagnose dengue and a vaccine has also been approved for this in three countries but it is not yet commercially available.
