UDHAMPUR, June 28: Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS), Jammu in close coordination with the Directorate of Youth Services & Sports, Chenani, Sudhmahadev Mela Committee, Chenani administration and Department of Information, J&K, organized ‘Duggar Sanskriti Mahotsav’ at Government Higher Secondary School, Sudhmahadev.
The festival was inaugurated by chief guest, Pardeep Singh (Mela Officer, Sudhmahadev) along with guests of honours, Modh Rafik (Naib Teshildar), Ram Lal Badyal (ZPO Chenani) and Balbir Chand.
The programme commenced with the Ganesh and Saraswati Vandana. The Dogri books ‘Preet Ladi’ and ‘Maa Sheranwali’ were presented by ML Dogra, chairman of BLSKS (writer of the books) to the chief guest.
The special attraction of the festival was performances of renowned singers of Zulekha Farid, Usha Handoo and Lab Singh. The colourful cultural programmes including folk dances of the State were presented by over 50 reputed folk artists. These programmes were directed by ML Dogra. Various students also presented cultural items.
More than 20 thousand pilgrims of Sudhmahadev witnessed the performance.
Earlier, in her welcome address, Usha Handoo, PRO of BLSKS, explained aims and objective of the programme and introduced folk form of Dugger Pardesh like Gitu and Kalaye Kanwana. Thereafter artists presented Dogri dance ‘Shan Shan Panjeb Meri Shanke’, Punjabi Sufianyana ‘Lambi Judayi’, Dogri song ‘Duma Dum Mast Kalander’, etc.
The troupes participated in the Festival include M/s Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sanathan, Ali Mohd & party and Rajni Devi & party. The singers, musicians and actors who performed were Usha Handoo, Sahil Kumar, Rajni Gupta, MC Kotwal, Kuldeep Raj, Richu, Tilak raj, Zulekha Farid, Rajinder Singh Saini, Neha Mehra and Deepak Kumar Dogra.
