JAMMU, Nov 6: On ‘National Cancer Awareness Day’, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) here today in coordination with Sangam Tru Art Production presented Dogri Musical Concert ‘Cancer Kola Bacho’ wherein stress was laid on the importance of early detection of the disease to save lives.
The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest, Master Kartar Chand, renowned Gharana Awardee Music Director and Singer from J&K.
Among guests of honour were Sanjay Pashi, renowned Musician of J&K; V.K Magotra, former Regional Director, Directorate of Field Publicity; J.K Raina, Freelance Producer Director; Dr. Anju Kumari Dogra, Directorate of Health Services J&K and Dr. Tara Singh Charak, former Deputy Director, Health Department J&K.
Speaking on the occasion the chief guest said ‘National Cancer Awareness Day’ is observed to highlight the significance of increased awareness about cancer prevention and early detection for the general public and advised that if detected early, cancer could be treated at a fraction of what could be incurred when diagnosed at an advanced stage.
He also said that mortality rate of cancer is also lowered substantially if people report for screening when the earliest symptoms are manifested.
Specially prepared programmes on the theme-‘Bacho Bacho Cancer Kola Bacho’, ‘Nasha Nai Kario Munde Kureio’ etc along with nukkad, skits, songs and dances were also presented to aware the masses.
Welcome speech was given by M.L Dogra, Chairman BLSKS who said that National Cancer Awareness Day is observed on November 7 to coincide with the birth anniversary of the eminent scientist Marie Curie. Curie is remembered for her discovery of radium and polonium and her huge contribution to the fight against cancer.
Singers, musician, actors and students of music and computer institute who participated in the musical concert were Usha Handoo, K.K Joshi, M.C Kotwal, Raju Bajgal, Rajni Gupta, Sanjeev Kumar Sodhi, Chahat Chadha and others.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Master Deepak Kumar.
