JAMMU, Feb 5: JK Blood Donors and Welfare Society organized 32nd blood donation camp at Suchetgarh in RS Pura, here today.
Dr Ritu Singh, co-founder Maharaja Hari Singh Foundation, Founder Delhi Public Schools Jammu, Nagbani, Katra, and Ladakh and Founding Chairperson FICCI FLO was the chief guest on the occasion.
“Blood donation is a selfless act capable of saving lives. It is one of the most positive ways to extend a helping hand to someone in need. By donating blood, a person donates an irreplaceable gift that will save someone’s life,” said Dr Ritu while addressing the gathering.
She further said that a memorial dedicated to martyrs will be constructed at this site by the Dharmarth Trust and regular events will be held at the aforesaid martyrs’ memorial to evoke their supreme sacrifice. She emphasized that a blood donation camp and remembering martyrs will be a regular feature at Martyrs Memorial in Suchetgarh on 5th February every year.
Taranjit Singh Tony, Senior AAP leader and DDC Member Suchetgarh presided over the event. He said that the advancement in medical science has made it possible to save multiple lives by a single unit of blood making it very vital for saving humanity.
He urged the young people to go for this humane gesture as many times as possible because there is no other gift which is as precious as blood. He appealed to youths to come forward and donate blood generously to save as many lives as possible.
Earlier, Capt (Retd) Paramjit Singh, father of martyr Sukhjinder Singh Sabji, was also honoured during the programme. Advocate Ajay Gandotra, President J&K Dharmarth Trust, who was the guest of honour, among 50 volunteers donated blood on the occasion.
Jatinder Singh Lucky, Chairman Cantonment Board Jammu and Member All Sikh Coordination Committee JK UT, Malkit Singh, Founder of JK Blood Donors and Welfare Society, Sarpanch Sham Lal Bhagat, social worker Titu Sharma, Ashish Co Commandar BSF Octroi Post, Rinku Choudhary, Shashi Bhagat, Tilak Raj Bhagat and Mandeep Choudhary were also present.
