Blood donation camp held

JAMMU, July 19: Azad Blood Donors Society today organized a blood donation camp at Super Specialty Hospital, here.
Former Minister Priya Sethi inaugurated the camp in presence of Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta, J&K BJP Vice President Yudhvir Sethi and volunteers of Azad Blood Donors Society. SHO Davinder, Dr Gagan, Dr Nikhil Gupta, Rajinder Sikka Treasurer UT OBC Morcha and President Sen Samaj and Monika Chopra social worker were the special guests.
Speaking on the occasion, Sethi said that blood donation is a noblest act of humanity and biggest life saving gift one can offer to others. She appealed to the youth to come forward and donate blood to give a life to needy at this time of pandemic.
“Due to the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic, the blood banks are running dry with a decreasing number of blood donors but the number of patients in need of blood remains the same. Many patients need frequent supply of blood transfusion. Country needs is three million units and if 2 per cent of youth of the country donates blood the same is made out,” she said.
“As well as thanking blood donors, it is a day to raise awareness about the global need for safe blood and how everyone can contribute. Blood donations are needed to ensure that individuals and communities have access to safe and quality-assured blood and blood products in both normal and emergency situations. Give blood and make the world a healthier place,” the former minister said.
Mayor Chander Mohan said that it is the moral responsibility of people to come forward and extend a helping hand during the crisis. He added that this blood donation camps are very useful to save the lives of those people who need blood at critical stages.
Yudhvir Sethi, in his address, said that BJP is at forefront in tackling COVID-19 crisis in the Jammu and Kashmir and stated the party is doing great service in serving the people of the Union Territory during the pandemic. He once again appealed to the youth to come forward in the noble cause of blood donation. Drops of your blood will add days to someone’s life, he added.
Among others who were present included Aman Verma, Vice Chairman, Deepak Sharma President Jai Dogra Blood Organization, Ricky Trathia, Vice President and Insaf Thappa Secretary.
