JAMMU, Mar 16: To create awareness and sense of social service among the youth the NSS Unit of Dogra College of Education organised one day blood donation awareness camp in collaboration with Government Medical College Jammu.
The camp was organized under the supervision of Dr Vijay Sawhney, Prof and Head PG Department of Blood Transfusion and Medicine.
The camp was inaugurated by Gulchain Singh Charak, former Minister and Chairman Dogra Educational Trust. In his inaugural address, Charak emphasized that youth of the nation are a force to reckon with and they should set an example before others by donating blood voluntarily and frequently.
Prof Sawhney in his address exhorted the youth in general and NSS volunteers in particular to donate blood regularly to save the ailing humanity as there is no alternative to human blood.
Earlier, welcome address was presented by Rajni Manhas, Programme Officer NSS.
Among others present were Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary Dogra Educational Trust, Prof BD Damral, Director-cum-Principal, Dogra College of Education, Shefali Sharma, Vice Principal of the College, Dr Mitali Sharma from Government Medical College Jammu and Bela Thakur, Academic Coordinator, Dogra College of Education.
On this occasion blood samples of 53 students were collected. Blood groups of students who were identified for the purpose of blood donation were enlisted.
At the end vote of thanks was moved by Sumer Singh, Senior Lecturer of the College.
