Police sources said that dead body of Bodh Raj, an ex-serviceman was recovered under mysterious circumstances underneath a bridge few days back.
They said, subsequently, inquest proceeding under Section 174 CrPC was initiated during which some visible evidences were analyzed and a special team supervised by SDPO RS Pura Shabir Khan and headed by SHO RS Pura, Jai Pal Sharma expanded the dynamics of the investigation.
“After hectic efforts and taking a blend of technical and human intelligence, police fixed the investigation radar on a close friend of deceased namely Mohinder Kumar (alias Kuku) son of Buti Ram of Suchetgarh (RS Pura), who when put to sustained questioning, accepted the crime and divulged the details and sequence of events.
Briefing the sequence of events that led to murder, sources said that both Bodh Raj and Mohinder were close friends and had worked together few years back at different level of postings in Paramilitary force. Bodh Raj used to visit Mohinder at his home regularly and were sharing close inter family relations.
It came to fore that Mohinder took a sum of Rs 3 lakh on credit from Bodh Raj in 2019 and was unable to pay back to him. “However, on the way, Mohinder made Bodh Raj to drink liquor and when he (Bodh Raj) was totally under the influence of alcohol, Mohinder squeezed his neck thereby throttled him to death,” police sources said, adding, after committing the crime, Mohinder transported the dead body to a far off place and dumped it underneath a bridge.
After the disclosure of the accused and linkage of various evidences, RS Pura police converted the inquest proceedings under section 174 CrPC into FIR No 225/2020 under Section 302 IPC and started further investigation.
