DODA, Nov 11: In a tragic incident, devastating fire inflicted massive damage at Gowari Market in Bhalessa during the wee hours today damaging about ten shops and two complexes along with several commercial stores.
After getting information regarding the incident, personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services located at Gandoh and Thathri along with cops from Police Post Changa and Police Station Gandoh immediately reached the spot and with the support of personnel of Indian Army and local volunteers they controlled the blaze following a two-hour long operation.
While there was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the incident, about 8 to 10 shops were completely gutted and a four-storey shopping complex was also damaged in the blaze and five trapped people were rescued safely by the personnel.
SDM Gandoh, Arun Kumar Badhiyal and SHO Gandoh Faroq Ahmed remained present throughout the rescue operation and assured full assistance to those affected by the incident.
Police and Fire and Emergency Services teams were assessing the damage and have started all the necessary legal formalities.
SSP Doda, Sandeep Mehta stated: “The timely response and brave efforts of our cops prevented a major loss of life. Doda Police remains committed to the safety and security of the people, even in the face of emergencies.”
