JAMMU, Mar 29: Suspected militants tonight targeted Border Police Post (BPP) Sanyal in Hiranagar tehsil of Kathua district causing injuries to a police personnel.
Additional DGP Jammu Zone Mukesh Singh said reportedly sound of a blast was heard near BPP Sanyal, close to the International Border under the jurisdiction of Hiranagar Police Station in Kathua district.
The blast took place around 10 pm.
DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua range Shakti Pathak said a police jawan has been injured in the blast.
“Entire border village of Sanyal has been cordoned off and searches have been launched,” Pathak said, adding further details are awaited.
It, however, couldn’t be ascertained immediately as to whether an object was thrown at the BPP or it was planted. However, it fell short of the target. Investigations are on.
It was complete darkness in the village and no movement was observed by the police or locals. However, sound of the explosion was heard in far off villages, leading to panic among the people.
