UDHAMPUR, July 1: After more than 40 years, blacktopping of Chenani-Latti-Dudu road was started today thus bringing a sigh of relief and contentment among the locals of the area.
In the presence of Sarpanches, DDC and BDC members of block Chenani and Latti- Dudu, the black topping work of roads was formally inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Indu Kanwal Chib.
The deplorable conditions of Mantalai Latti-Dudu road was main hurdle in development of the area, which is one of the best tourist places in Jammu region.
General public of the area has expressed gratitude to Union Minister of State in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh, DC Udhampur, local Sarpanches, Panches and members of DDC and BDC of Chenani Latti-Dudu area for their efforts in getting the blacktopping work started on this road. The people also appreciated the fact that this time around all the leaders and representatives came on a common platform irrespective of their political affiliation and raised their voice in favour of development of the area and this unity of the leaders and local representatives finally bore fruits for the entire satisfaction of the common masses of these areas.
According to the locals, this road was built in 1978 and never repaired since then. In 2017, road widening work was started but the contractor left the project incomplete with the result, it was difficult even to travel on this stretch.
