JAMMU, July 27: Bhartiya Kala Sangam (BKS) claimed that Jammu Doordarshan Kendra has been reduced to the status of just a relay unit immensely scuttling TV programme recordings of Jammu Artists.
In a press conference here today Romesh Singh Chib, Director BKS flayed Jammu BJP leadership for its pathetic attitude towards development and protection of Dogra Culture.
Reiterating allegations of discrimination and depriving the artists of Satellite Dugger Channel of facilities in Jammu, Romesh Chib pointed out that Kashmir region has been provided its own Satellite Kashir Channel as well as independent Doordarshan Kendra since long exclusively meant to cater the needs of Kashmiri art, culture and languages.
“What wrong the artists of Jammu Division has done,” he asked adding that the step-motherly treatment with Jammu at the hands of successive Governments is continuing with now BJP at the helm taking no interest in uplifting the artists of Jammu Division despite taking up the matter in writing with concerned Ministry of Union Government.
Taking a dig at two MPs sent to Parliament of India by the people of Jammu Division by thumping majority, Romesh Chib said: “The artist fraternity was agog with optimism pinning hopes on our MPs that they would strive hard to get Doordarshan Centre Jammu upgraded to an independent Satellite Dugger Channel for the facilities for local artists, but sadly, our hopes have been dashed to the ground.”
“Satellite TV Channel in Jammu can play a vital role to bring unity amongst people of different caste, creed and varied cultures of Jammu region,” he maintained appealing Lt Governor to take up the matter with Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry to provide Satellite Duggar Channel favoring the artists of Jammu.
